The European Court of Justice (ECJ) ruled on 8 June 2010 that the European Commission was right to set price caps on mobile roaming. |
The ECJ decided on 8 June 2010 that the EU's roaming regulation (Nr. 717/2007), which sets price caps on the costs of using a mobile phone while in another EU Member State, was legally funded.
"[The] Court ruling confirms the Commission's view that this type of legislation was needed and that the EU was entitled to impose limits on the prices charged by mobile operators for roaming calls in the interest of the EU's Single Market" said the Commission, welcoming the ruling.
The Court's ruling will be taken in account by the Commission in its review of the Roaming Regulation that must be completed by 30 June 2011.
